In this painting titled “Avatar,” Lord Shiva is depicted as a male figure, and Mother Parvati is symbolized as nature. The artwork represents the emergence of nature and the male figure from Lord Shiva’s hair to form a complete body. Lord Shiva, represented as Purusha, is depicted holding a Damru in his hand, symbolizing the awakening of all beings and the generation of spiritual energy. Mother Nature Parvati is shown holding a bell, which produces the sound of Om and is believed to invite the Gods and Goddesses, spreading healing vibrations. The background scenery on both sides of the painting depicts the natural and cultural heritage of Pokhara and Kathmandu, representing the birthplaces of my husband and myself, respectively. Additionally, the simultaneous appearance of the moon and sun in the painting symbolizes a rare occurrence. The carved patterns and designs throughout the picture symbolize the patience and thoughts reflected in my mind.
